Cami and Archer were finally on summer vacation! Their family had plans to take everyone to stay at a huge lake resort, but when they got there the rooms had been given away! Not willing to give up the vacation the grown ups decided to shove everyone in a tiny hotel room that was about as close to deserted as a hotel can get. It wasn't super exciting, the kids found themselves roaming around for something to do. The lady at the gas station next door felt bad for them and invited the kids to raid the snacks. Cami and Archie took advantage of that and grabbed everything they could get their hands on. Beaming with huge smiles they thanked her and ran outside. "Where can we eat our snacks without everyone stealing our loot!?" Archer asked worried. Cami grinned... "I have an idea..."
They found loads of junk from all around and made a huge pile. With the skill of tiny ninjas they floundered their way to the top of the stack and Archie hoisted Cami up and handed her all the snacks. As if by magic Archie jumped up behind Cami with little effort, almost as if they were an alien or something... They wiggled their way carefully to the top of the roof and laid out their loot. Picking their snacks carefully they started the feast! "I guess this summer vacation isn't SO bad," Archer said as they devoured another gummy worm.
Sometimes life throws us curveballs. Like Mr. Rogers says "Look for the helpers". We all take turns being those helpers. We take turns sharing and giving what we can. The gas station angel in the story is real... She is a manifestation of the good that comes from reaching out and doing our best to make the most of every moment.
